About Us

1. Leabo Foods was founded in 1989 by Ed Leabo and has been in business for over 20 years and is the leading frozen foods distributor to over 28 school districts covering over 500 school sites in the southern California region including the following counties:  Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Orange counties.

2.  David Preuss (President and CEO of Leabo Foods) purchased the company in 2006 and has directed the company's growth over the past five years.

3. We have added thirteen new school districts the past three years while keeping our overhead low.  This has led to Leabo Foods being able to offer very competitive pricing.

4. Leabo Foods is willing and able to make as many deliveries per week as needed to allow the school district to maintain lower inventory levels in their freezers and warehouses.

Also, Leabo Foods is willing to run 2-3 trucks per delivery to both your central warehouse and to your multiple sites to ensure all deliveries are completed by 10 a.m. (or earlier) , if necessary.

5. In February 2006, Leabo Foods built a Cold Room in their warehouse.  All products for the next day are staged in the Cold Room.  Cold Room temperatures are maintained between 15ËšF and 25ËšF.

6. Leabo Foods has purchased all new freezer condensers and compressors.  This was an investment made to improve their freezer system so that products are stored between -0ËšF and -10ËšF.  Temperatures in the freezers are recorded twice daily and monitored throughout the day.  In addition, all incoming products received are temperature tested as well.

7. A comprehensive HACCP Plan is in place and is continually being improved upon.  A major component of Leabo Foods’ HACCP Plan is the company’s Warehouse Checklist.  This is a detailed checklist that is utilized throughout the week to manage and adhere to all food safety requirements.

8. Leabo Foods has a large warehouse and freezer with expansion plans targeted for the end of 2010:

a. Increased warehouse space and warehouse efficiency through new slotting software and a new racking system.

b. We have added two new 40-ft. frozen containers in warehouse with ability to add 2-3 more containers if needed.

c. Leabo Foods will soon be moving to a new warehouse facility in Ontario that will more than triple our freezer space and open up a large amount of pallet spaces for cold storage customers (please contact Leabo Foods at 909-923-9060 if you are interested).  The move is planned for December 2010.

9. Leabo Foods deploys a fleet of brand new leased trucks and is looking to lease additional trucks.

10. Leabo Foods fully implemented the K-12 commodities tracking software package and the Schwan’s commodity
tracking software in 2007.  Leabo Foods has also implemented the Fidelis commodities tracking software (Processor Link) as well.

11. Ed Leabo, the company's founder, has been hired and is being utilized as a business and sales consultant.
